Projects
A number of projects Aperte has worked on in the past or is currently working on:
Klasse Rotterdam
For the Tornak Group and the municipality Rotterdam (department of youth, education and society) Aperte has developed a digital version of the “Klasse” instrument in order to help youth workers. This instrument was developed within a few weeks, in time for a pilot of the instrument, and was deployed complete with administrative functionality and PDF rapport modules.
This project shows that Aperte is able to develop complete working applications that save time and money within a very short time frame. Aperte uses Agile software development and Rapid Application Development techniques in order to quickly deliver applications that get the job done. Direct technical support from Aperte complement the application.
For more information about this project, see the iQuest case.
Alka-linux
For the econometrics department of the university of Pisa (Italy) Aperte developed a specialized version of Morphix containing a range of open source econometric and statistical tools. Using a single Alka-linux CD or DVD a researcher can distribute his or her methods and results together with their publications. It is also to be used in education environments for students. Next to the distribution, Aperte also gave advice and arranged for custom-made graphics made specifically for the distribution. The pilot-project has been presented during the DIME conference in France.
Peer-to-Peer monitoring
For a number of large multinational financial organizations Aperte does research into peer-to-peer networks, primarily the Gnutella and Bittorrent networks.
For more information see the P2Pmon case.
Security audits
Aperte has done many security audits and penetration tests, mainly for large governmental institutions. Details of these audits will naturally not be made available, but the advice Aperte has given has always been followed-through. Every system needs proper hardening and regular auditing in order to reduce risks, and this is especially the case with high-profile targets.
iQuest

For the Tornak Group, Aperte has developed a new assessment-system named iQuest. This web application supports the Tornak Group in analyzing the roles and tasks within groups in order to improve team motivation and effectiveness.
The Tornak Group is a fast-growing company that helps organizations assess their current state and help these organizations in promoting change through training and advice.
Aperte hosts and maintains iQuest, was developed in Python and Django and is linked to a number of legacy systems in order to provide continuity.
For more information about this project, see the iQuest case.
Egypte.nl

For Egypte.nl and Green-T, Aperte developed an on-line e-commerce solution for connecting a range of suppliers and travel-agencies to the Dutch Egypt information portal.
Design, maintenance and support is also completely taken care of.
This project was implemented using a combination of XML/XSLT and PHP.
Citysupport

For Citysupport, a leading on-line Dutch citytrip portal, Aperte is developing and implementing a complete redesign of the e-commerce websites. After a short consultancy-and-advice project Citysupport has agreed completely to the use of open source software and the implementation of the new concept by Aperte.
Aperte also maintains and improves the IT infrastructure of Citysupport, including email-, database- and webservers.
Buddyscript2AIML
For Oberon, Aperte has completed a project to develop a tool with which code of chatbots in Buddyscript can be converted into AIML.
In spite of a very strict time frame for the project, the project was completed successfully. The tool was written in Python and was delivered with extensive documentation, as agreed on from the start.
